the thesis is one line: an infinitely memeable cat that is also a palindrome. put him anywhere, the word still reads the same in both directions. the joke does not wear out because the structure does not change.

NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. DO NOT INVEST WHAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE.

How to read this
Bought back is every token purchased off the market with creator fees. In the LP is what has actually been deposited into the pool as liquidity — buybacks land here after they're paired against SOL. The gap between the two is tokens sitting bought but not yet deposited. Locks happen per 1% accumulated, so the pending balance climbs until it crosses that line and then goes in.

>fees buy the token
>the token goes in the pool
>the pool gets deeper
>repeat

NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. FIGURES ARE ACCURATE AS OF THE LAST TRANSACTION LISTED AND DO NOT UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY.

Sticky What is a palindrome? (read this before posting "wait what")  ## Mod 09/05/12(Wed)18:02:20 No.21344312
A palindrome is a word, phrase, number or any sequence that reads the same forwards and backwards. That's it. That's the whole rule.

Take the sequence, reverse the order of its characters, and compare. If nothing changed, it's a palindrome. For phrases you drop spaces, punctuation and capitals first — A man, a plan, a canal: Panama is a palindrome because amanaplanacanalpanama is.

The word comes from Greek: palin ("again, back") + dromos ("running") — literally running back again. It entered English in the 1600s, credited to the playwright Ben Jonson.

The way to see one is to fold it at the middle. An odd-length palindrome has a single pivot character with nothing to pair off against, and every other character mirrors its partner across it. TACOCAT is seven letters, so the pivot is the O:
T A C O C A T
T A C O C A T
top row read left to right  /  bottom row read right to left  /  identical
T pairs with T. A pairs with A. C pairs with C. The O sits on the axis alone. Even-length palindromes like NOON have no pivot — they fold on the seam between the two middle characters instead.

Check anything you want:

KindExamples
Single wordstacocat, racecar, kayak, level, rotor, civic, radar, refer, madam, noon, deified, redivider
SentencesNever odd or even. — Was it a car or a cat I saw? — Madam, I'm Adam. — Do geese see God? — A man, a plan, a canal: Panama.
Numbers7, 121, 12321, 1001, 1,000,000,001 — every single-digit number is trivially palindromic
Dates02/02/2020 — reads the same in day-first and month-first order, and as all eight digits. 6/20/2026 works too.
NamesHannah, Anna, Otto, Bob, Eve, Ava
DNARestriction enzymes cut at palindromic sites like GAATTC, where the complementary strand reads the same in its own direction
The cousin nobody mentions: semordnilap
A semordnilap is a word that spells a different word backwards — stressed/desserts, diaper/repaid, stop/pots, drawer/reward. The name is "palindromes" spelled backwards, which is the entire joke. Tacocat is not one of these. Tacocat is the real thing.

Why this one is the good one
Almost every famous palindrome is abstract. Level is a concept. Rotor is a machine part. Racecar is closer but you still can't picture a specific one. Tacocat names an object you can photograph, and somebody did. The word is symmetrical and the picture is literal, so every edit inherits the structure for free — beach, Taco Bell, XP wallpaper, chart going up. The setting changes. The word doesn't.

>reversible by construction
>that's the whole thesis

the longest single word palindrome people usually cite in English is detartrated or redivider, depending on which dictionary you'll accept. Finnish has saippuakivikauppias, a soapstone dealer, 19 letters.
>none of them are a cat in a taco

Tacocat — what it is and where it came from  Anonymous 09/07/12(Fri)14:22:09 No.21788712
Screencap of the original Taco Cat thread
writing this up because people keep asking

the picture is a black and white cat sitting inside an oversized hard taco shell. no known author, no known cat name. it circulated on image boards and Reddit in the early 2010s and got cut out onto a transparent background almost immediately, which is what made it portable.

for a lot of people the word came first. tacocat is one of the most cited example palindromes in English, sitting next to racecar and kayak in every word puzzle and grade school worksheet. the photo just gave the word a body.

the name has been picked up repeatedly since. the Seattle punk band Tacocat formed in 2007 and took the name straight from the palindrome. Exploding Kittens put a Tacocat card in the deck in 2015. it shows up on license plates, in crossword clues, and in the standard list any time someone explains what a palindrome is.

what made it outlast the other 2012 cat memes is that it isn't a joke, it's a structure. a joke gets used up. a structure doesn't. every edit is the same shape as the last one and the word underneath survives all of them intact.

the format is dead simple: take the cutout, put it somewhere it does not belong, ship it. beach. fast food counter. Windows XP hill. loading screen. trading terminal. the setting carries the joke and the palindrome carries the setting.

>infinitely memeable
>reads the same in both directions

something people don't say enough: most memes have a lifespan because they depend on a reference, and references expire. you had to have seen the movie, played the game, been in the thread.

tacocat depends on nothing. the palindrome is a property of the alphabet. it worked before the picture existed and it works for anyone who can read, in any year, with no context whatsoever.

that's why the edits never stop. there's no version of the future where the word stops being symmetrical.

>the reference can't expire
>there is no reference
>$TACOCAT is the coin for people who got that immediately
